Omaha hockey announced Wednesday a position-specific scholarship established by season ticket holders Maureen and Nick Borman.
The new scholarship will be awarded to one of the Mavericks' right defensemen.
"We support the Maverick hockey program because it plays a vital role in building a strong, connected community," the couple said in a press release. "The program fills a niche within Omaha's vibrant sports community that fosters local pride to create a positive, inclusive environment for everyone."
The couple pledged the gift through the University of Nebraska Foundation. The full scholarship will be awarded beginning in 2027.
At the request of the donors, the total commitment amount is confidential.
"We are honored to have the Borman name tied to this position and our hockey program," Omaha Athletic Director Adrian Dowell said. "We are grateful to Nick and 'Mo' for the incredible impact they have made supporting Omaha athletics."
