Most Omaha-area school districts are less than a month out from welcoming students back for the 2025-26 school year.
The Bellevue and Westside districts will be among the first to kick off their school year, with a start date of Aug. 7. While most of the remaining districts will begin in mid-August, the Council Bluffs Community School District typically starts toward the end of the month. This year, the Council Bluffs district will start classes Aug. 25.
Here are start dates and times for each district:
Omaha Public Schools
First day of school:
Aug. 13 — Kindergarten and entry-level grades (sixth and ninth grades).
Aug. 14 — All other K-12 students.
Aug. 20 — Pre-K students.

Middle school — 7:40 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
High school — 7:40 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
Millard Public Schools
First day of school: Aug. 12.
Elementary school — 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday dismissal — 2:30 p.m.
Middle school — 7:55 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Monday late start — 8:30 a.m.
High school — 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Monday late start — 8:45 a.m.
Papillion La Vista Community Schools
First day of school: Aug. 12 for kindergarten through seventh grade and ninth grade; Aug. 13 for remaining grades.
Elementary school — 8:05 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
Middle school — 8 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.; Wednesday late start — 8:20 a.m.
High school — 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.; Wednesday late start — 8:20 a.m.
Ralston Public Schools
First day of school: Aug. 11 for Pre-K, kindergarten, seventh grade and ninth grade; Aug. 12 for remaining grades.
Elementary school — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday dismissal — 2:30 p.m.
Middle school — 8 a.m. to 3:11 p.m.; Friday dismissal — 2:31 p.m.
High school — 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.; Friday dismissal — 2:40 p.m.
Bellevue Public Schools
First day of school: Aug. 7 for kindergarten through ninth grade; Aug. 8 for returning students in 10th through 12th grades.
Elementary school — 8 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Middle school — 8:30 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.
High school — 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Westside Community Schools
First day of school: Aug. 7.
Elementary school — 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday dismissal — 3 p.m.
Middle school — 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Wednesday dismissal — 2:44 p.m.
High school — 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.; Wednesday dismissal — 2:50 p.m.
Gretna Public Schools
First day of school: Aug. 13.

Middle school — 8 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
High school — 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
Elkhorn Public Schools
First day of school: Aug. 12.
Elementary school — 8:15 a.m. to 3:06 p.m.

Bennington Public Schools
First day of school: Aug. 13.
Elementary school — 8:05 a.m. to 3:07 p.m.
Middle school — 8 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.

Douglas County West Community Schools
First day of school: Aug. 13.
All students — 8 a.m. to 3:24 p.m.; Friday dismissal — 2:04 p.m.
Springfield Platteview Community Schools
First day of school: Aug. 13.
